Elastigroup’s Showback comes to Google Kubernetes Engine

Reducing your cloud computing costs is what Spotinst does best with Elastigroup. When using many machine instances in a cluster such as with Kubernetes, it can be hard to pinpoint costs to a specific workload or application. To help organizations better understand the costs of their workloads on AWS EKS, Showback was added to Elastigroup. Showback breaks down the costs of the cluster to uncover the costs of the underlying applications and understand the resource consumption of the various components. Don’t worry Google Cloud Platform users, we did not forget about you!

We are pleased to announce that Showback is now supported for GKE Elastigroups on Google Cloud Platform! Showback is located under the Costs tab within the Elastigroup Management View. In the image below, you can see the cost for each namespace and how it relates to a percentage of the total cluster cost.

Showback also provides a breakdown of the costs of each Kubernetes deployment. We can see that deployment 1 is consuming most of the costs while the other deployments are roughly the same.

In the image below, Showback has a third graph that illustrates the namespace costs over time and the namespaces consuming the largest portions of the costs.
