The 2023 State of CloudOps report, sponsored by Spot by NetApp and conducted by Dimensional Research, examines the current state of CloudOps for cloud operations teams. Drawing on survey data from U.S.-based IT cloud decision makers, the report focuses on operational activities, staffing and expertise, automation, container use, and FinOps.

Key findings:

• Teams still struggle with cloud operations: Only 33% of respondents are “very confident” in their ability to operate a public cloud environment
• Automation is the key to success in CloudOps: 95% have automated cloud operations but only 15% say they have a “significant” level of automation
• FinOps is still a work in progress: 92% struggle with FinOps, especially around reducing cloud costs (50%) and forecasting cloud spend (47%)
